Welcome to the brand new Dog Friendly Workplaces membership site

Since March 2020, there has been an undeniable surge in people getting a four-legged companion. We have seen the UK dog population increase from 9 million to 12.5 million!

The ever-changing nature of the pandemic and restrictions along with the new hybrid way of working for most, could result in unwanted behaviours as dogs struggle to adapt, such as whining or barking when someone is busy or frequently seeking attention. These could result in owners making the tragic decision to give up their dogs. Unwanted behaviours are the single biggest reason dogs are handed into us.

Sadly, Dogs Trust has already seen a 115% increase in traffic to our ‘giving up your dog’ page from July 2020 to July 2021, which tells us that dogs and their owners are struggling. As a result of the increasing dog population and routine changes the pandemic has forced upon us, there will be an increase in the number of people worried about life with their dog post-covid, or wondering what to do with their dog once their office reopens.

That’s why we developed the Dog Friendly Workplaces membership site to encourage businesses across the UK to support their workforce (dog owners, those considering dog ownership and those without a four-legged friend) by offering them a one-year membership to Dogs Trust advice and resources to aid this transition and keep families together.

Here you’ll find lots of information for you and your four-legged friend, from encouraging their best behaviour and office etiquette, to enriching activities and dog-friendly recipes. Take a walkies around the site to find out more.

Even if you don't have a waggy pal, or are still just thinking of adding a furry friend to your family, there is still plenty to learn and enjoy! Why not check out our top tips for greeting your new canine colleagues in the office, or check out a dog treat recipe to try out for your next dog-friendly family gathering?

We hope you and your canine colleagues enjoy the content, whether you’re working from home or back in the office, and don’t forget to sign up to our monthly webinars!
